Twins Brady and Brian Maxwell, who recently wrapped up their careers on the Mitchell High School basketball team, have announced their verbal commitment to Northern State University in Aberdeen.
The Maxwells plan to sign their letters of intent in April.
“I’m probably about 95 percent sure going to Northern, that’s the percentage I’d give it,” said Brady Maxwell, who was speaking on behalf of himself and his brother. “But the door is not completely shut.”
Brady Maxwell said Dakota Wesleyan University and the University of South Dakota also showed interest
“DWU is hard to argue with all of the local support we have here in Mitchell,” he said.
The Maxwells had a visit to Northern State in February, and Brady said the twins verbally committed on that date. But because of the successful season the Kernels were having, the Maxwells didn’t want to announce their decisions until after the season to keep focused on team goals.
“They put together a really nice dual package for us,” Maxwell said. “They recruited us at an individual level, but at the same time together, too.”
