Besides just voting, you should say who you voted for. I voted for Canova, but it was tough for me not to vote for "Any cornbelt team".
Donahue, Gassman, Donahue, Gassman with a little Heghdal (sp) mixed in will go a long way unless they don't score runs to support them. The remach with the Mudcats in the third round should have Donahue with almost a weeks worth of rest.
My bracket actually has the "old days" championship, with Canova finally beating PBR in the championship. How many times were they runner up to PBR? It was a few I know. |

| Great tournament. It was nice to see Miller/Wessington play so well. Came extremely close. It was nice to see Canova finally win one. |

Nice call! And a great tourney. Sunday was amazing, and the tourney should ALWAYS be held in Mitchell! _________________ Say a prayer for Wilt the Stilt. |

Thanks Mike, I had a feeling about Canova's pitching. Plus, you can never count out PBR when it is tournament time. Klock had a great tourney too, it probably came down to him or Jerad for MVP, depending on who won. Jerad threw a lot of innings against three tough teams. He is solid. I think he probably got tired near the end of the two Dells games. He was untouchable for six innings in both games. Surprisingly, it was those crafty veteran catchers (both nine hitters) that got to him early. Pfanny and Benz both had great games against him. I was really impressed with Lincoln as well.
Dells guy, the crowd was great. It wasn't the highest number of people, but it was the highest grossing session ever, and I think tournament as a whole for Mitchell. What contributed mostly to that was that they charge more now. I heard it was probably the second or third best crowd in terms of attendance. I'm sure beer sales were high with Canova people, but I was a little disappointment at the beer cost. Mitchell jacked up the prices this year. Made it not much different than SF. That used to be one of the fan reasons why they enjoyed Mitchell. They usually get better attandance in SF, but consessions are high in SF. This might be the first year ever that I have been dissapointed in Mitchell's conssession. I don't disagree with you on the ALWAYS in Mitchell comment, but I do think Mitchell needs to make it appealling for the state to put it there. As of now, they don't share conssessions or anything. The last two years were the only profitable years in Mitchell in a long time. The main reason for the profitability is reducing the number of umpires to two, and only partly due to crowd size.
The one thing I have to compliment is the grounds crew in Mitchell. They did awesome for a couple of the rain delays. Seeing Jacko and others down on their hands and knees with spunges. They worked hard, real hard, and the field looked great. |
